This Privacy Policy explains how Vocab Swiper ("we", "us", the "app") handles your information. By using Vocab Swiper you agree to this policy.
Anonymous identifier. On first launch the app creates an anonymous account so your progress can be saved and synced. This is a random identifier and is not tied to your real identity.
Email address (optional). If you choose "back up your progress" in Settings, we collect your email address to create a permanent account and send you a one-time sign-in link. You can use the entire app without ever providing an email.
Learning data. Your study progress, the words you've seen or saved, quiz results, streaks, and your app settings (e.g. daily goal, interests, skill level). This is stored on your device and synced to our backend so it's available across your devices.
Vocabulary words you study. To generate example sentences and memory hooks, the app sends the specific word being studied (and its target/native language) to our backend, which uses a third-party AI provider to generate the text. We do not send your identity with these requests.
Purchase information. If you subscribe to Vocab Swiper Pro, your purchase is processed by Apple. We use RevenueCat to manage subscription status. We receive whether you have an active subscription and related transaction identifiers—not your credit card or payment details, which only Apple handles.
Diagnostic data. We may collect basic, non-identifying technical logs to fix bugs and keep the service running.
We share data with these providers only as needed to run the app:
We keep your data while your account exists. You can permanently delete your account and all associated data at any time directly in the app (Profile → Account → Delete account) — deletion is immediate. You can also request deletion by emailing us at the address below; we will delete it within 30 days. Signing out of a backed-up account on your device also removes that account's data from the device.
Vocab Swiper is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Depending on where you live (e.g. the EU/UK under GDPR, or California under CCPA), you may have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise these rights, contact us at the email below.
We may update this policy from time to time. We'll revise the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, provide notice in the app.
